Your sense of smell is one of the best tools for detecting purity. The scent of real coconut oil should be comforting and familiar, not overpowering.

* The Pure Sign: Traditional extraction preserves the natural, earthy, and slightly sweet aroma of real sun-dried copra. It smells wholesome and natural.
* The Adulteration Red Flag: If the oil has an aggressively strong, artificial "perfume" scent, it means synthetic fragrances have been added to mask the smell of cheap substitute oils. Conversely, if it has absolutely zero smell, it may be heavily chemically bleached and deodorized, stripping away its natural nutrients.
